What Republicans Pretend Not To Notice

  1. Bush and Blair A memo of a two-hour meeting between Bush and Blair at the White House on 2003-01-31 — nearly two months before the invasion — reveals that Mr Bush made it clear the US intended to invade whether or not there was a second UN resolution and even if UN inspectors found no evidence of a banned Iraqi weapons programme.
  2. Bush ordered hideous tortures in Abu Ghraib in Iraq and Guantánamo. There have even been criminal convictions. That there was torture is not in doubt. Sgt. Erik Saar has written a book called Inside the Wire about his six months torturing POWs at Guantánamo. The torture at Abu Ghraib all came out during the Alberto Gonzales confirmation hearings. Bush even had video tapes made of little Iraqi boys screaming as they were anally raped.
  3. Bush and Cheney refused to accept Saddam’s surrender that would have allowed, elections, confiscation of all Iraqi oil, and an invasion force to search all they wanted for WMDs, without anyone dying. Bush went instead for shock and awe. Why? Perhaps to enrich Halliburton. Perhaps just to show the world what a thug the USA was, so they would fall in line. Saddam offered to surrender via multiple routes including Richard Perle and Vincent Cannistraro, the CIA’s former head of counter-terrorism, proposing to let several thousand U.S. troops and/or FBI agents into the country to search for the alleged WMDs, to grant the United States rights over Iraqi oil, and even to hold internationally monitored elections within two years. But the CIA instructed Perle to reply “Tell them we will seen them in Baghdad.” and Cannistraro got a similar response: “There were serious attempts to cut a deal, but they were all turned down by the president and vice-president.” This is documented in Gywnne Dyer’s book Future: Tense, The Coming World Order.
  4. The Johns-Hopkins/Lancet study published in Lancet says that Bush killed 100,000 civilians in Iraq, mostly children. There is no competing study. This is a peer reviewed paper from a prestigious university in the Britain’s most prestigious peer-reviewed medical journal. This number jibes with the UN expectation:
“A recent UN report reckons that if and when the US starts bombing as many as 100,000 Iraqis will die.”
    ~ Terry Jones
  5. Bush supporters kid themselves that the Iraqis did all the killing and the Americans did almost none. This is ridiculous for many reasons:
  6. Bush admitted that Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11.
“We have no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with the September 11th attacks.”
    ~ George W. Bush, 2003-09-17, audio.
  7. PNAC admitted the Iraq war had nothing to do with regime change or WMDs.
“While the unresolved conflict with Iraq provides the immediate justification, the need for a substantial American force presence in the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein.”
~ PNAC (Project for the New American Century) the neocon website 2000-09 In other words, Saddam and WMDs had bugger all to do with the Iraq war.
  8. Bush lied when he said he had solid proof Saddam had nukes, drones, poison gases, and biologicals. He has not been able to show either the weapons or the proof.
  9. Americans have been fought to a standstill by the Iraqi resistance. That could not be possible if it consisted only of a rag tag end of Saddam’s people as Bush claims.
  10. Only Cheney could have issued the order to make the intercept planes stand down on 9/11.
  11. Cheney gets kickbacks (aka residuals) from Halliburton/Kellogg Brown and Root. Bush 41 and Osama bin Laden are major investors in the Carlyle group.
  12. The USA is violating the Geneva conventions, and using atrocities even Hitler said were too barbaric.
  13. The USA is killing mainly children. They can’t claim these are accidents or co-lateral damage when they are killing more kids than anyone else. They can’t claim this is an accident when they are imprisoning, torturing and raping children. You can’t do that by mistake.
  14. The Americans claim that the Iraqis killing their own kids. The Johns-Hopkins university study says this is not so. Americans are killing the kids. The Iraqi resistance are killing collaborators, not kids and civilians.
