| Above is one of the photos US soldiers traded for pornography. They called it Cooked Iraqi. They are displaying an Iraqi they killed and fried as if the corpse were a trophy fish. | Weapons are the tools of violence;
all decent men detest them.
Weapons are the tools of fear;
He enters a battle gravely,

This image captures the arrogance and cruelty of the soldier as he is in the battle field, not the rosy cheeked still innocent-looking recruit. A licence to kill brings out the worst in people. Absolute power of life and death over people of another race and religion leading inevitably to absolute moral corruption. The opportunities for unlimited tormenting and bullying are the key reason people such as the fellow in the photograph put up with so much crap from the military.
Universal Soldier© Caleb Music-ASCAP by Buffy Sainte-MarieI wrote “Universal Soldier” in the basement of The Purple Onion coffee house in Toronto in the early sixties. It’s about individual responsibility for war and how the old feudal thinking kills us all. Donovan had a hit with it in 1965.
He’s five feet two and he’s six feet four
He’s a Catholic, a Hindu, an atheist, a Jain,
And he’s fighting for Canada,
And he’s fighting for Democracy
But without him how would Hitler have

The American soldier knows full well there were no WMDs. He knows the UN has
declared the war illegal.
He knows Iraq was no threat to the USA. He knows the USA attacked Iraq, a tiny
unarmed country, without provocation. He knows full well Americans are killing
more children than adults. He knows about the atrocities and torture. He knows
he is not defending America; he is fighting a war of aggression on her behalf.
He knows the war in not about Saddam, or else why would the killing continue
long after Saddam’s capture and Bush would have accepted Saddam’s
surrender before the war started. He should be pretty damn suspicious this war
is about oil, since that what nearly everyone on earth but Republicans say it is
about. Yet he persists in his slaughter, no different from the Nazi who
persisted in his evil out of a herd mentality.
What motivates him? I think these are the big four motivations:

Dick Cheney |
George W. Bush | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Don Rumsfeld Secretary of War |
Lt. General Ricardo Sanchez head of American forces in Iraq
Donald Wolfowitz Deputy Secretary of War |
Gene Ray, Chair Titan Corp, torture outsourcers.
Van Honeycutt, CEO CSC |
Dan Bannister, CEO Dyncorp, torture outsourcers, bought out by CSC.
David Lesar, CEO Halliburton They give Cheney $30 million a year in deferred payments plus bonuses, and Cheney claims it is not a conflict of interest. |
Randy Harl, CEO Kellogg Brown & Root owned by Halliburton.
Robert J. Stevens, CEO Lockheed Martin Gets more tax/war dollars than any other corporation. |
W. James McNerney, Jr. CEO Boeing #2 tax/war pig.
Hugh Grant, CEO Monsanto |
Lee Raymond, CEO ExxonMobil
Riley Bechtel, CEO Bechtel |
Louis V. Gerstner Jr., Chair Carlyle Group
David O’Reilly, CEO ChevronTexaco |
Unocal CEO Charles Williamson, bought out by ChevronTexaco
Fruitcakes from protestwarrior.com assert war, even for no reason, is a good thing. |
The biggest culprits are those who are so absorbed in trivial concerns they can’t be bothered to stay informed.
