XPS
An XML-based format for formatted documents that is both human-readable and multi-platform. It tackles the same problem domain as RTF Rich Text Format. XMS documents are internally zipped even though they don’t have the *.zip extension. A viewer comes bundled with Vista. Modern MS utilities can export XPS. You can download an XPS writer/viewer for XP.

XPS is a very fluffy format using 16-bit Little-endian Unicode. Here is what the phrase “configure the virtual” looks like in XPS.

Because it uses absolute positioning of text, it is much more like PostScript or a printer driver meta format than a markup language like HTML.
