ROM: Read Only Memory. Your computer contains a small permanent uneraseable BIOS program burned into it, stored in ROM chips. This program handles the very basic functions needed to get Windows-95 started. Ordinary RAM loses its contents when you turn off the power. ROM retains its factory-set contents indefinitely.
