giclée
A word to describe art printed with high quality ink-jet printers. It sounds classier than “printed on an Epson ink-jet printer”. Giclée, pronounced zhee-klay’, means squirted in French. The process allows artists or online-print shops to create prints one-off as they are sold. Giclée prints are created typically using professional 8-colour to 12-colour ink-jet printers with archival quality inks. Home ink-jets typically have 3 colours plus black. You can print onto various substrates including canvas, fine art and photo-base paper. Surprisingly, the giclée printing process provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction.
