CDMA : Computer Hardware Buyers’ Glossary

CDMA
CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) is a wireless technology for cell phones used in North America. CDMA is a spread spectrum technology, allowing many users to occupy the same time and frequency allocations in a given band/space.

If you are signed up with Verizon Wireless or Sprint PCS, you are using CDMA. CDMA phones are not compatible with GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications).

In Canada, Bell and Telus run CDMA.

The drawback of CDMA is that it is North American only and is controlled by a single company: Qualcomm.
