3G
3G is the fastest way for cell phones to transmit to cell phone towers. It is 14.4 Mbit/s on the downlink and 5.8 Mbit/s on the uplink. This is not as fast as Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity), but Wi-Fi works only within a building. To put his in perspective, 3G is faster than the orginial 10Mbit Ethernet. It is used in R.I.M. Blackberries and Apple iPhones and other advanced cell phones. It allows fast digital data exchange, web surfing, audio and video. It is not needed for pure voice.
