native
A method implemented in some other language besides Java, typically C++, C or assembler. Such methods are platform specific and need an implementation for each platform you want to run on. The usual means of write such methods is JNI. You can write machine-dependent C code and invoke it from Java.Running native methods from Applets is an incredible hassle. You must deal with defanging the sandbox security and installing any native classes on the client’s hard disk.
