JLayeredPane : Java Glossary

JLayeredPane
JLayerdPane lets you lay out a panel in a number of transparent layers with components overlapping. It does not have a LayoutManager for each layer. Instead you position elements by layer number, x and y when you add them. You can change the Z-order of the layers after you have created them.
