Surf+
Was a tool to get rid of pop-up windows in Internet Explorer. It did not work in other browsers. You could control them domain by domain. Some porn sites in particular like to cram your browser with hundreds of daughter windows. You otherwise would have to shut down to get rid of them all. It also gave you domain by domain control of cookies. It was free but they tempted you with advertising offers in the form of phony links such as this one: "death" That is not actually a link, but it will appear to be one if you have Surf+ installed. If you click it, it will take you to a place to find out whether someone has died. If you don’t have Surf+, nothing happens. It is a clever idea to show you only the advertising links that might interest you, and to trick you into browsing them.
