Shareware is try before you buy software. Sometimes payment is on the honour system, as on my site. Sometimes you get some extra bonus when you register, such as extra programs, the source code or some enhanced feature. Trialware stops working after a trial period. Nagware nags you with annoying messages until you pay, but otherwise works. Adware displays ads until you pay. Demoware works in a degraded mode, e.g. you can’t print or save your work, until you pay. Freeware is free. Shameware is software that attempts to shame you into registering by in some way publicly announcing to the world you are using the free or trial version. PGP 8 works this way.
Here are some sources of shareware.
