NETBEUI : Java Glossary

NETBEUI
NETBUI (Net BIOS extended User Interface). Pronounced Net-booey. A simple efficient protocol used on small LANS originally developed by IBM (International Business Machines) in 1985. You see it mostly in Windows 95. The other two common LAN (Local Area Network) protocols are TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) and Novell’s IPX (Internet Protocol Exchange). If you are attached to the Internet, it is best to disable this protocol because it is a security risk.
