LANS originally developed by IBM (International Business Machines) in 1985. You see it mostly in Windows 95. The other two
common LAN (Local Area Network) protocols are TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) and Novell’s IPX (Internet Protocol Exchange). If you are attached to the Internet, it is best to disable
this protocol because it is a security risk.
