javacpl.exe : Java Glossary

• javacpl.exe will start up the Java Control Panel from the command line.
• Alternatively, you can invoke it with: C:\Program Files\java\jre7 \bin\javacpl.exe to choose precisely which JVM (Java Virtual Machine) version you want to use.
• You can also invoke it in the Windows Control Panel. Click Programs ⇒ Java, or Click Classic View ⇒ Java. Look for the coffee cup logo.
• You can also get at it by firing up the Java Web Start viewer javaws.exe -viewer.

In it, you configure which version of Java to use for Applets and which to use for Java Web Start. You can configure how you want the console to behave and how you want Java Web Start to behave. You can also control the console and a number of other tuning options.
