geek : Java Glossary

geek
Meriam Webster defines geek as:
  1. a carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usually includes biting the head off a live chicken or snake.
  2. a person often of an intellectual bent who is disapproved of.
A geek is usually defined as the kind of kid who, in high school, wore a pocket protector filled with more pens than he could possibly need. He was interested in technical subjects, and held little appeal for the opposite sex. Geeks often know far more about their computer’s inner functioning that would ever be necessary for any practical purpose. They may prefer unusual or home brew hardware. You can recognize adult geeks by their eccentric spelling habits. Geeks are overly proud of the fact they can’t spell or write a grammatical sentence. They believe that spelling and grammar have no relation to credibility.
