BeeMail : Java Glossary

I have left this tombstone entry for historical interest.
BeeMail
Was a scheme for sending very large email attachments which are often blocked by various mailservers or ISPs. Large attachments were transparently compressed and uploaded to a server over an encrypted link. The message was sent normally with an URL (Uniform Resource Locator) replacing the attachment. To retrieve the attachment the recipient launched a Java Applet to retrieve it from the server. The scheme was more secure than ordinary email.
