Air : Java Glossary

Adobe Air Air
Adobe Air is a proprietary language for writing web apps. It has two smaller brothers Adobe Flash and Adobe Shockwave. The Adobe Air run time is 11 MB. There is a PC (Personal Computer) and a Mac version. Like Java the same object code runs on any OS (Operating System) with an Air runtime. It works with Ajax and Flash and servers. It fits in much the same niche as signed Applets. It can read and write local files. For now, you can download the runtime and development kit free. However, Adobe has a long history of charging astronomical rates for its development tools.

The MacBook Air is Apple’s ultrathin notebook computer.
