Odour works below the level of conscious awareness. Soap is not usually a major problem, but artificial scents can be irritating to others, which means you get rejected for no reason. Go for natural scents. They are least likely to be irritating to others, even when intense. The Bronner soap company makes a line of excellent natural liquid soaps. Embarrassingly, they come with some off-the-wall religious tracts, I suspect a marketing effort to make them look more old-fashioned. The peppermint-hemp and tea tree scents are pleasant. I have had people compliment me when I use them.
