death penalty: While North Americans and Europeans were debating gay marriage, much of the world was still executing people just for being gay, or even for knowing a gay person. Such countries include Sudan, Mauritania, Nigeria, Somalia, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Afghanistan (so much for the American occupation civilising influence) and Iran. Other countries merely torture or let gays die in prison. This all comes from warped versions of Christianity and Islam. These religions have to be tamed or eliminated before there can be social justice for gays or women. These extreme anti-gay attitudes in Africa came from imposing Christianity during the imperial age and today from extremist Christian hate groups in the USA exporting and funding it.
