Taking a snapshot of the screen or a window and saving it as a bit map image. The easiest way to do it is with a screen capture program such as FastStone or Corel Paint Show Pro. If you need a platform-independent way to do it, have a look at how Masker generates a PNG (Portable Network Graphics) file on the fly.

If you just want to export data in a platform independent way that does not require Java to view it, consider exporting it as an HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) table.
