Gun Laws
Americans need to take time out to decide what they are trying to accomplish with their gun laws and second amendment. Then modify their constitution, if need be, and modify their gun laws to go efficiently for the desired effect.
Assisting Insurrection
Many Americans assert the point of the law is to give any small group of rebels a fighting chance at overthrowing the federal government by force. Unfortunately, any laws designed to do this also make it easy for foreign terrorists to do the same thing. For that goal, here is what you need:
- No restrictions on any type of weapon, including banned ones such as bioweapons and chemical weapons.
- Any weapon can be paraded about in public, even nukes.
- It must be illegal to spy on any rebel or terrorist group.
- Given the budget of the US military, this is almost futile.
Profit
The NRA (National Rifle Association) is primarily concerned with maximising the profits of the gun manufacturers they lobby for.
- There are only 81 guns for every 100 people in the USA (double any other country). Gun ownership should be made mandatory for all citizens.
- Criminals should be allowed to own guns.
- Mentally ill people should be allowed to own guns.
- People who belong to terrorist organisations should be allowed to own guns.
- Guns older than 15 years must be disabled and replaced.
Preventing Mass Murders
- Ban weapons that can fire more than 8 rounds.
- Limit gun ownership to two unless the weapon is modified so it cannot be fired.
- Strict background checks.
Preventing Hunting Accidents
- Design a gun that will not fire at a hunting vest. It may be a special colour, or some electronic beam.
Protecting Children
- Every gun must have technology to ensure only its registered owner can fire it.
- When the technology is ready, the gun cannot shoot children or members of the extended family.
Preventing Crime
