BIX : Java Glossary

I have left this tombstone entry for historical interest.

BIX (Byte Information Exchange). Byte Magazine’s online conferencing system that predates the Intenet. It died and was resurrected privately as Noise Level Zero I have many megabytes of posts on all manner of topics on it.

To setup an account, you would telnet to, enter nlz at the prompt, then hit new at the next prompt and follow the script. (Carefully, it’s a little buggy and misreading the directions can toss you out.) It will send you an e-mail which you need to respond to and be validated before you can post, but you can read on your first visit.
