Genetic Similarity

If you pick two people at random from the earth, even of different races, they will differ in only 1/1000 of their DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) genetic code. If you did the same thing with chimpanzees, they would differ in 5/1000. We have such low genetic diversity because a small group of humans left Africa and spread over the entire earth. We, as a species, have about the same amount of diversity as that small band.

Surprisingly humans and bananas share 50% of their genes. Evolution, when it has worked out a solution to a problem, rarely abandons it for another.
