Here is an email I received in response to one of my essays.
That is such a ridiculous charge. We Canadians pity you Americans and also hold you in contempt. Why? You started with some of the sweetest real estate on the planet, then you set about polluting it, destroying its soils and covering it with old tires. Your country puts more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than all the rest of the world put together. There is not a single lake or river left in the USA whose fish are safe for children to eat. Obesity is a national epidemic. Your IMR (Infant Mortality Rate) is worse than Cuba’s. Your streets are clogged with the homeless, drug dealers and violent gangs. American cities are unlivable. The American education system is crumbling. Your economic system is so corrupt that government officials can steal trillions of dollars without any investigation or even outcry. Your elections use crooked voting machines. Your once great constitution is now overruled by the Orwellian Patriot Act.
Americans are so conceited that they believe everyone else on the planet should kiss their butts and hand over to them whatever they want since they are God’s chosen people. And finally your country behaves like Nazis, raping, pillaging and torturing children. When Americans come to Canada they apologise for their country and express their shame at what it has become.
Americans often wear maple when travelling hoping to pass as Canadians. Why do they do that if they are not ashamed of what their country has done and are worried they will be personally blamed for it? You never see a Canadian trying to pass himself off as an American.
What exactly is it that Canadians fear most about Americans?
The USA takes over other countries and turns them into quasi colonies, run through puppet governments, whose sole function is to provide raw materials for the USA at dirt cheap prices. Canadians most fear the USA taking us over and making us into loud-mouth, pushy, greedy, dishonest, gun-toting, racist, homophobic, superstitious, self-centred trailer-trash.
Why is it Canadians try to pass themselves off as friendly and open when in their hearts they hold hatred towards their own neighbor?
We despise you because you are so materialistic and so greedy. Your hypocrisy, pretending to be Christian while embracing sodomy is repulsive.

We are appalled at you because you are behaving so badly in Iraq raping and torturing children. You are behaving worse than Nazi Germany. Bush’s atrocities are more mind-boggling and cruel than Hitler’s.
Why is it Canadians pry into Americas business when they have their own problems to tend to?
Because Americans meddle with everyone else’s affairs, including Canada’s and Iraq’s. If Americans would mind their own business, we would be happy to ignore you.
Why is it Canadians are always first in line to point fingers or accuse America of atrocities where none exist and your fellow weak gov’t fails to stand for anything but drug smugglers rights and terrorist immigration rights?
Canada is not torturing anyone. Canada is not bombing kids. You are. That is everyone’s business to stop.
Bush is the very best thing that has happened to the US and Canada in a long time… terrorists heads are being blown off by the dozens, democracy has finally taken hold in the middle east… etc etc.
Global terrorism is way up under Bush for a very simple reason. Bush has behaved so badly that it is easy for America’s enemies to recruit.
The way I see it, if you’re not registered to vote in the USA… your opinion means less than the dust on the bottom of my shoes… Well, have a nice peaceful life hating the greatest country that ever existed. You lead a meaningless existence if you ask me. Oh well, better you than me!
If that were truly how you felt, why did you bother to write? Your typical American attitude is why the whole world is turning against America, not just a few Islamic extremists. America no longer has allies like she used to. The American neocons have said they will not put up with other countries even pursuing their legitimate interests. They want everyone else under the American thumb. How is that any different from Hitler’s mad drive for world domination?
