Here is an email I received in response to one of my essays.
Wed, 03 Hi my friend. I just looked over your website on kristianity and read the entire thing! I must say I laughed very hard, for you have an uncanny sense of humour and a nice ability in hitting punchlines that make a point. Im 20 and a male. And all that you’ve said is very understandable, and very appreciated… even insightful in many instances. As well, I am a Christian… that is I believe in jesus of nazareth and all that he said… it is good to know that someone is out there that, if not altogether a believer in such, is equipped to at least know the honest truth about many of Christ’s teachings (you)… and commands.
You say jesus is insane… I understand and would almost agree that it appears
so.. and that his suffering is unnecessary. Yet I was never converted, but came to this
belief through much study on my own… in fact I always disliked christians since I
was very small. But you see… those who know great love always know great
suffering.. and if it is for great love it isn’t in vain. In your own life the
pains you’ve taken have been because of the love you have (for whomever) and the
ridicule you put up with. Perhaps you can better understand from your own lifestyle how
love suffers and come to terms with why jesus’s great love for us was materialized
in that suffering.
In great love and respect,
grace and peace,
G.B. Ante
P.S. If you have time, please, write back…anything at all.
When abroad, behave to everyone as if you were receiving an important guest; treat people as if you were assisting at a great sacrifice; do not do to others as you would not wish done to yourself. Thereby you will let no murmuring rise against you in the country and none in the family…
~ K’ung Fu Tzu (551-09-28 BC 479 BC age:71) (Confucius)
Both Jesus and Mohammed had everyone in an uproar — "I came not to send peace, but a sword."Matthew 10:34. Jesus was prone to gross exaggeration: "and if thine eye offend thee…"Matthew 5:29, Matthew 18:9, Mark 9:47. Jesus invited a hideous death on himself. Lao Tsu went off into the wilderness to die in despair. These are not what I would consider ideal rôle models of mental health. Gandhi and Gautama Buddha were assassinated, albeit at a ripe old age. Sai Baba was smeared with scandal. K’ung Fu Tzu (Confucius) is one of the few influential spiritual teachers who reputedly lived a calm, scandal-free life and died a natural death.
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Matthew 7:20.
