Ignoring Climate Change
In the 2013-05-14 provincial election in BC, candidates avoided ever talking about climate change, even though it is the biggest threat to the economy and health. They did, however, debate fossil fuel, megaprojects whose viability depended on the world continuing to ignore climate change. Why?

- Climate change is a downer and politicians always like to project an optimistic image no matter what the projected future.
- Big Oil has convinced many non-scientific people (mostly Christians) that climate change is controversial. A politician does not want to give unscrupulous opposition the ammunition to tar him as a flake.
- Dealing with climate change means making big changes in the way we live. People are like small children. They simply refuse to give up any goody they are used to, no matter the reason why they must. Politicians do not want to be the one to deliver the bad news.
