|recommend book⇒The Weather Makers: How Man Is Changing the Climate and What It Means for Life on Earth|
|This is the book Jack Layton, leader of the New Democratic Party gave to Stephen Harper, the Prime Minister of Canada to bring him up to speed on global warming. Tim Flannery offers specific suggestions for action for both lawmakers and individuals, from investing in renewable power sources like wind, solar and geothermal energy, to offering an action plan with steps each and every one of us can take right now to reduce deadly CO₂ emissions by as much as 70 percent. This book contains much of the science of how we know what we know about global warming accessible to the scientifically minded layperson. It also talks quite a bit about the effects of global warming on plants and animals, namely their extinctions. The main problem with it is it is so chock full of detail the key points can easily be overlooked. It is a book you would like on your desk for debating the global warming deniers. Flannery has a very pleasant speaking voice, with an Aussie twang. He has a way of speaking that makes things simple, obvious and clear. Not as dry as some other works.|
