One should never forbid what one lacks the power to prevent.
~ Napoléon Bonaparte (born: 1769-08-15 died: 1821-05-05 at age: 51)
Republican Forcible Rape
Republican Vice Residential nominee, Paul Ryan, Todd Akin and 214 other Republicans co-sponsored the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act which would prohibit federal funding of abortions except in instances of an act of forcible rape or, if a minor, on act of incest.~ H.R. 3 112th Congress 2011-10-20
Republican Gift-From-God Rape
Richard [Mourdock] and I, along with millions of Americans,… believe that life is a gift from God [even when it results from rape].~ John Cornyn III (born: 1952-02-02 age: 61) 2012-10-24
supporting Richard Mourdock’s statement about rape-induced and rape-induced abortions.
The Catholic hierarchy want to refuse contraception to a rape victim, sometimes someone beaten then raped, sometimes a woman or girl who can’t speak English. And no abortions, not even after a rape.
~ Sean Faircloth (born: 1960 age: 52)
But I’ve been very clear in this campaign — I don’t believe the party should have a position on abortion.
~ Stephen Harper (born: 1959-04-30 age: 54)
This is preposterous. A government has to have some policy. It might be simply to leave the law as is or to defer to the supreme court. The federal government is in charge of all criminal law, including that surrounding abortion. He was just weaseling to avoid offending anyone.
That claim was not intended to be a factual statement.
~ Jon Kyl (born: 1942-04-25 age: 71)
When Republican Senator Kyl was caught lying that Planned Parenthood spends 90% of its budget on abortion when it is actually 3%.
I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country. I have since the time that my Mom took that position when she ran in 1970 as a U.S. Senate candidate. I believe that since Roe v. Wade has been the law for 20 years we should sustain and support it. Jehovah commandedeth Hurricane Sandy to punish those New York vigilantes who blow up abortion clinics, killing both babies and mothers. Jehovah’s our god too, it is just we call him Mr. Smith.
~ Mitt Romney (born: 1947-03-12 age: 66) 1994 in the United States Senatorial debate.
