Suspension of Disbelief
Think how often we entertain ourselves by suspension of disbelief.

- Watching a Spielberg movie. We deliberately forget the characters are actors and the locales sets or CGI (Computer Graphics Imaging) creations.
- Reading a Harry Potter novel. We deliberately forget the events and characters described are purely imaginary.
- Watching a magician. We deliberately forget that no matter how it looks, the laws of physics are not being violated.
- Listening to a story about miraculous religious events. Only here we persist in self-deception long after the story is over.
