That prayer is effective is not only a lie, it is a malicious lie:

• It stops people from doing something effective. They procrastinate taking action that would help, lazily sitting on their butts and wishing.
• It has never been shown to work. Randi the Magician offers a $1 million prize to anyone who can demonstrate otherwise.
• It is often part of a con. If you donate money to the crook, supposedly God will give your prayers higher priority.
• Parents will even allow their children to die, preferring to pray than take effective action to save them. It is the ultimate lazy excuse for inaction.
