If your partner dumps you with unnecessary cruelty, it is not nearly as bad a thing as it feels. Had they stayed, they would have made your life increasingly miserable. They are not a suitable partner for you or anyone else until they grow up. They had some of the characteristics of a good partner, and you filled in the blanks with wonderfulness that was not really there.
