Reducing Suicides

I think assisted suicide will ironically reduce suicide for three reasons:

1. Potential suicides will seek help. They may not be aware of other options, psychological, medical or counseling. Otherwise, they quietly kill themselves alone.
2. Knowing they can get help, people can procrastinate suicide, perhaps indefinitely. Otherwise they have to commit suicide early while they are still capable of pulling it off on their own.
3. Most people who apply just want the reassurance of the option. They don’t actually take it.
