Christians venerate corpses and bones, treating them with even more respect than if they were alive. Some examples:

- Christian soldiers will risk the lives of living people to recover corpses.
- Governments will spent millions of dollars to recover the remains of someone killed in a plane crash, skiing accident or boating accident only to rebury them.
- Governments will spend tends of thousands of dollars repatriating bones, e.g. exhuming graves in other countries, transporting the remains and reburying them. They will do this in preference to spending to provide people with medical care, food and homes.
- Christians bury the dead on prime land with a view, and talk as if the deceased enjoy the pleasant surroundings.
- Americans expressed great outrage at corpses burned in Iraq, but felt no distress at all at torture or the use of banned weapons on children.
