silent install : Java Glossary

silent install
aka command line install. An install triggered from the command line that can proceed to completion without asking the user any further questions. Anything it needs to know is a commmand line parameter or in stored in a configuration file. Silent installs are often used in corporate environments to bulk install software on hundreds of machines simultaneously. Windows and the Sun JRE (Java Runtime Environment) can be installed this way.
