schema
In SQL, schema refers to the organisation of a database, usually described in DDL the Data Definition Language. In XML and HTML a schema as a document that describes what a legitimate document looks like.

The most common schemas are XSD, Relax NG, DTD and Schematron.

The ASP PAD people have a proprietary XML scheme that has regex expressions to define what each field should look like.
