IMAP : Java Glossary

IMAP
A mailbox accessing procotol not to be confused with MAPI (Messaging API) . IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) stands for IMAP. IMAP is a method of accessing electronic mail or bulletin board messages that are kept on a (possibly shared) mail server. It works better than POP3 (Post Office Protocol version 3) when you access your mail account from several different computers.
