For the last 63 years and 8 months Canada and the USA have employed a policy of always siding with Israel in the Palestinian conflict. Clearly it has not worked to bring peace. It is time to try something else, such as playing the role of utterly fair, scrupulously unbiased peace broker. We need to give both sides a chance to air their grievances in a global forum. We need to stop vilifying the Palestinians for violent behaviour and praising the Israelis for the exact same behaviour. I suggest copying the way Canada resolved land conflicts with the indigenous people where the government paid reparations for land stolen and past cruelty and granted some autonomy in government.
