What legitimacy? The only case you can make for the legitimacy of Israel is might makes right. The Zionists had no legal claim or title to the land. They or their ancestors had never lived there even in Biblical times. Granted some unrelated Sephardic Jews lived there 2000 years ago, but the territory has changed hands about 20 times since then and who knows how often prior to that. At the time of the invasion, aggressive war had been a capital offence for two years.
