There are dozens of disaster movies for catastrophe unlikely to ever happen, but less than a handful about the most likely global disasters: global warming, nuclear war, runaway pollution, biowarfare… Why? Perhaps the real disasters are too gloomy. Once they start there is no way a hero can set them right at the last minute.
