In 2013 the Fraser River sockeye salmon fishery had to be totally shut down. Bureaucrats scratched their heads about what caused the run to completely collapse.
- Salmon farms have released millions of sea lice to infect the competing wild salmon.
- Salmon farms have harvested nearly all the small fish to turn into meal for captive salmon. This leaves nothing for the wild fish.
- Global climate change has so heated the spawning streams that the salmon suffer cardiac arrest from the exertion.
- Fish stocks have been dropping every year, but the technology to catch every last fish has been improving.
Gee. I wonder what the problem could be. The bureaucrats idiotically imagine it has to have a single cause.~ Roedy (1948-02-04 age:69)
