Blaming the Man

When a woman complains a man knowingly passed HIV (Human Immuno-deficiency Virus) to her and wants to sue him and put him in jail, she is almost certainly wrong. Why? Anyone who knows they are HIV + will most likely be on HIV retroviral therapy and likely will have close to undetectable viral load levels. There is nothing to transmit. Given that the woman had unprotected sex with a stranger, she probably has done this a number of times before. If some of those partners were people who did not know their status, they would most likely be HIV + (because of their promiscuous life style) and they would not be receiving therapy. They are the likely source of the infection since they would have much higher viral loads. The irony is, partners who know they are infected are much less dangerous than ones who do not.
