an artificial penis to use in screwing or masturbation. A dildo usually does not have a vibrator.

They come with several types of end:

plain
handle
suction cup: to attach to a smooth surface, usually also with testicles.
circular rim: for use in a strap-on harness. The dildo fits through a metal ring in the harness.
Vac-U-Lock: Doc Johnson’s proprietary system. The dildo is hollow and fits over a plug held into a harness. This is reputed to hold the dildo more securely.

To avoid embarrassment, you might want to buy these at a webstore. Keep in mind, if you buy outside the country, you may still have an embarrassing encounter with customs. Don’t buy until you check both the length and circumference to make sure it is suitable. For obvious reasons, you can’t return dildos.

One of the things that amuses me most about the capitalist system is knowing that somewhere in California is a guy, who works for Doc Johnson, who is paid to test dildos. That is what you might call a feeble example of a designer joke, a joke with a corporate sponsor. There is another example, with count them, two, corporate sponsors, in the Raincoast Proverbs. I predict, today being 2000-12-21, this fad will eventually hit Madison Avenue.
