Gender Neutral Singular Pronoun

The Swedes now have a singular gender-neutral pronoun hen. English could use one too. English forces you to specify sexual plumbing even when it is completely irrelevant, e.g. when giving instructions for a gender-unspecified user to make a computer jump through hoops. Some people, myself included, use they even though, technically, it is incorrect. Officially he covers both he and she, but that is rather patriarchal. Further, there is the matter of the 1 in 200 intersex people, whom you cannot pigeonhole.
