But Bush was told about the first attack just when he was about to enter the class room to hear the second graders read. Though he went into the class room to hear them read, soon he went out into the library and announced the sad story of plane crashing into WTC. This was at 9:04am eastern time. The first plane crash was at 8:50am eastern time. The second plane crash was at 9:08am eastern time.
In this world of newspeak, would you not expect TIME to revise its story to handle the earlier discrepancies. You can’t blame me for that. Which was the true story? Some put the first hit at 8:45, and it took 19 minutes for the president to find out? Get serious!
Now, moving on to your second paragraph, you said:
"However, it appears he was acting. News reporters talked to him right after the first hit, asking "have you just heard what just happened in New York" to which he replied "yes". Later, as reported in a White House website transcript he answered a question from a student named Jordan, where he tells a rather silly story of seeing the first plane hit on TV, and thinking the pilot must not be very good."
If someone talks to you about a crash right after it happened, and then right after that asks you ‘have you just heard about the crash’, what would you say other than ‘yes’? May be you can hear things before they are spoken to you. Sorry to disappoint you, but our president is a human.
The president logically should have been the first to know what was going on long before even the first hit. Why did the president let the Card notification story stand so long? No matter how you slice it, the president repeatedly lied. Why did he lie? What was he trying to hide?
Moving to your third paragraph, you said:
"That is an odd story. There was no video of the first hit on TV until September 12. Did Bush view footage taken by his own TV crew?"
I saw the video of the first plane hitting the World trade center tower on September 11, the same day it happened. Oh yeah, I forgot, you are a dodo. I have better things to do than talk to you. Post this anywhere you want!
But the point still stands. The president could not have seen that hit on TV the way he said. The video did not come out till much later. Only the second hit was on live TV.
