Here is an email I received in response to one of my essays.

I will assume that from the title Canadian Mind Products that you:

are Canadian and have never lived in the U.S.A.
have never served in the U.S. Military.

You are correct I am Canadian. I lived in the USA for 6 months where I learned what an incompetent and costly medical system you Americans have and the American worship of all things military. Given my strong anti-military views and given that Canada has not been attacked since before I was born, I would never would have considered enlisting in the military. You seem to be implying you have to be a child molester before you can be considered expert enough to have a legitimate opinion on the desirability of child molesting.

The only correct deduction I was able to make from your website is you are a misguided, bitter old idiot of a man who spouts wrong information out to anyone who will listen in a pathetic attempt to ensnare weak-minded individuals into thinking you are actually correct. I am a proud citizen of my country, I am a sergeant in the USMC (United States Marine Corps) Infantry reserve

You are using an ad hominem fallacy to make your point. Whether the USA is conducting illegal wars has nothing to do with my personal failings. It is an objective matter of international law, of which you remain wilfully ignorant. If you aid or abet those illegal wars you have committed a hanging offence, admittedly not one you will likely be prosecuted for.

I hope you do not refer to yourself as an expert in understanding American culture or views or most importantly the U.S. Military.

I have spent thousands of hours studying these issues and read scores of books. Most of the people who write me have done no reading at all. They might have watched some FOX News infotainment broadcasts. I don’t claim to be an expert. I ask people to research these things for themselves. It would be irresponsible for people to slavishly believe me. I have no academic credentials in the field.

And I do drive a pick-up truck, not because I’m trying to kill the environment, but because I do work with it.

Your motive for destroying the environment is irrelevant. What counts is that you do consciously destroy it and you are making no effort to find alternatives.

And I like the taste of Moose.

As a child we had moose all winter. I dislike the strong bitter flavour. My mom tried all kinds of things to disguise it. Now caribou, that’s the most delicious of meats.
