As for the corrupt and immoral acts done by characters in the Bible. Note that they are all judged. They are also there to show the terrible nature of sin and that God does not tolerate sin.
Dreadful things also happen to good people. Dreadful deeds, such as David’s go unpunished.
As for God giving man dominion over animals. One must realize that this was before Adam and Eve sinned. Therefore the Earth and all in it were perfect. In no way is God condoning or promoting animal cruelty.
Unfortunately the bulk of your fellow Christians, especially in past, do not agree with you. In their view, beasts are here for the convenience of man. See my animal slaves essay.
But how do I expect you to believe that, because you cannot understand the things of God. As for Noah and the ark it is entirely possible for all of those animals to fit. To read more about it go to AIG.com. As you look on that website, you will see that the Noah’s Ark story is scientifically provable.
Not unless Noah left out nearly all the species or managed to miniaturise the animals. I showed you the arithmetic. There are a many other reasons why the story is preposterous that I also gave. I saw nothing at that website about Noah, just about automobile insurance.
Obviously you think the stories in the Bible are far fetched. But they cannot possibly be more far fetched than those of evolutionists and atheists who believe the ridiculous theory that a big bang formed the earth. That’s about as stupid as thinking you could drive in to a pile of bricks and form a house.
I am sure the quantum mechanics upon which modern computers is based would seems even more far fetched. However, I could not be writing you if it were not. In contrast there is no evidence for the Bible stories and plenty of evidence they are false. You can go look for yourself any place you can see the sediment layers.
This is in response to your response to Lea as you asked her what possible evidence other than a gut feeling could she have to know she has eternal life.
Here is my answer:
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
She has obviously believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and has received the gift of eternal life.
That is just wishful thinking. The Bible is one of thousands of holy books. They all say something different. There is little evidence any of them are true. The only reason you hold the Bible in such high esteem is because your mother taught you to before you were too young to reason. You faith is based on gut emotion, nothing more. If it were based on reason, it would appeal to everyone, not just those brainwashed at youth or later. If you have not had that conditioning, the Bible sounds downright silly and just far-fetched as the Roman and Norse myths.
Concerning your essay on The Real God, you failed to point out that the two main characteristics of God are Love and Holiness. His love is why He came to Earth to die on a cross for our sins. His love is great, but He is also Holy. Because He is holy, he cannot tolerate sin and cannot let it go unpunished. That is why you see many of these so-called "cruel" acts in the Bible. God is not a God who enjoys punishing people, but His holiness demands it. Also, when you’re wondering why God does something, remember God’s thoughts and ways are higher than our thoughts and ways, we will never be able to fully understand God.
I can tell you are a man of God. I can smell the brimstone on your breath. You think you are God with your extreme judgementalness. Your main joy in life comes from contemplating the supposed torment God will dish out to your fellows. Why can’t you get it through your thick skull that judging is not your job. That is God’s.
