Condemned To Gridlock
Through their own selfishness, stubbornness and stupidity, drivers condemn themselves to gridlock.
- Commuters drive vehicles designed to hold 4+ people with only the driver in them. If they upped the occupancy to even 2 people per car, the gridlock problem would be solved.
- A totally gridlocked highway is still covered only 8% by vehicles. All that space is needed to compensate for how poor and inattentive humans are as drivers. People flatly refuse to hand over the driving to competent automation that can pack cars almost bumper to bumper at high speed.
- People insist or commuting all at the same time each day.
- People insist on converging on a few magic spots of land to work each day. There could easily spread the worksites out and avoid the congestion.
Drivers create their own hell. They fully deserve it.~ Roedy (1948-02-04 age:69)
