Hypertransport : Computer Hardware Buyers’ Glossary

Hypertransport
A high speed bus for use in computers used for example to connect the CPU (Central Processing Unit) with memory. It runs at 200 MHz to 2.6 GHz (compared to PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) at either 33 or 66 MHz). Intel does not use it. AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) and others do in their higher end chips. In very high end chips each CPU may have 3 busses.
