Stephen Harper cannot be trusted. Why?

• On 2005-02-14, Harper signed the Atlantic accord which laid out the rules by which the federal and Atlantic provinces would share revenue. Then he tore it up, and imposed his own rules without any renegotiation.
• In the campaign platform document for the 2006-01-23 federal election, Harper promised never to tax income trusts, a popular form of saving for retirement. On 2006-11-01 he announced a tax on them so substantial it pretty much terminated the income trust. Many people lost tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars as the value of trusts suddenly collapsed. To make matters worse, insiders leaked information about the sudden change so that friends of Harper could reap a windfall.
• On 2008-09-10, Harper promised to end the Afghan war by 2011. Then he changed his mind. Now there is no end is sight for this war that has dragged on pointlessly for 10 years and 5 months.
