FAT
FAT (File Allocation Table). A brain-damaged way of storing data on a hard disk used by W95/W98/Me and optionally in NT/W2K/XP/W2003/Vista/W7-32/W7-64 It was originally designed for single-sided low-density floppy diskettes. It has been replaced by NTFS (New Technology File System) in Windows NT/W2K/XP/W2003/Vista/W7-32/W7-64
