AGP : Computer Hardware Buyers’ Glossary

AGP
AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port). A high performance way for video cards to access the CPU (Central Processing Unit). They bypass the PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) bus that other devices use and go direct to the CPU, much the way RAM (Random Access Memory) does. To use it, you must have an AGP capable motherboard with a special AGP slot and an AGP video card. You cannot use the older PCI video cards in AGP slots or vice versa.
